Happy New Year!
I went to Ruston Super1 today and noticed that they have a recycle bin (made of recycled milk jugs) for plastic bags and plastic bottles. Maybe the other Super1 stores do the same.
Read also the earlier posting about the discount Super1 gives for using your own reusable bags.
In Living Naturally in Louisiana group's Facebook page there was some discussion about the recycling, check it out and join the group!

Wow, that's great! Thanks for the info. Beats driving to Monroe, doesn't it?
So happy to have found this blog! I am living naturally in Monroe and would love to get involved with any events or gatherings.
A reporter from Ruston Daily Leader contacted me about this recycling bin in Super1. They said they have a them this year and it is Going green!
Pixiepine, I am gland you found us too! Join our Yahoo group too if you like, info in the blog. We haven't really had any events or gatherings, would you like to be involved in organizing some? If so, contact me through the group e-mail.
Hey there Sirpa. I just went to the Brookshire's on Forsythe in Monroe and they have a recycling bin for plastic bags and containers. Yay! So close for me and so handy.
I just dropped off my bottles at Super1. Thanks for letting us know about the new recycling bins! It's great - we don't need to drive them to Monroe anymore. :)
glad to hear there's a local spot for recycling your plastic. Does it take plastic bags, too? Through research for my blog piece on recycling the dreaded plastic bags (http://charitabledeeds.blogspot.com/2009/01/recycling.html) I learned bread bags and lots of other plastic bags BESIDES those they try to give us at the grocery store can be recycled, too! :) YAY!
Wow JenPB, thanks for the info. I think Super1 takes plastic bottles and bags, that's all.
love the blog :) are there any other drop offs for plastic bottles? The one at Super 1 was supposedly too full when my mil took them. And I think I have seen blue bins at the Ruston Wal Mart? Does anyone have more info on that? Thanks! :)
I don't know if there are other plastic bottle recycling places. The bins at Wal Mart are for office paper, phone books, aluminium cans and newspaper. In the LNLA groups Facebook group there is info about recycling places in Monroe for instance that some people around here use.
I heard, that there are bins for plastics next to A.E. Phillips. If I remember correctly, any plastics like bottles, tofu packaging and so on are collected IF they are clean and packed in plastic bags.
But, I haven't checked this out yet. Will take a look at it soon.
Thanks! :)
